Gainesville, FL, April 27, 2026 — Nearly two weeks ago, community members gathered for Amy Trask’s first town hall. The event stood out as an opportunity for residents to connect with leadership at a time when many have expressed a desire for more accessible and responsive representation, marking a strong and successful debut event focused on open dialogue, transparency, and addressing the needs of local residents.
Held on April 17 at the facilities of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Gainesville, the event brought together residents from across the district to engage directly with Trask on key issues impacting their daily lives. Attendees participated in an extensive Q&A session, from public safety and affordability to education and healthcare, everyone had the opportunity to ask questions, share personal experiences, and hear directly from Trask on her priorities and policy approach.
“I will never stop fighting for us,” said Trask. “In closing I want to say one thing, change is inevitable, progress is possible and hope is paramount. I hope that I will have the opportunity to earn your support this November and thank you so much for allowing me to tell you a little about myself and some of the issues that we’re seeing.”
Trask also highlighted her recent legislative efforts, including leadership on measures aimed at strengthening protections for survivors of domestic and dating violence. She emphasized her continued commitment to policies that prioritize safety, accountability, and support for vulnerable populations.
The strong turnout and level of engagement highlighted the community’s interest in staying informed and involved in the policymaking process. Trask reaffirmed her commitment to hosting additional town halls and maintaining open lines of communication with community members.
