Gainesville, FL, March 2, 2026 — Yesterday, Amy Trask, candidate for Florida House District 22, kicked her campaign into high gear with a Campaign Kickoff Party at Westside Park in Northwest Gainesville. The candidate was joined by early supporters, donors, and volunteers, who believe that Florida’s future should be shaped by a leader who has lived the consequences of broken policy.
“I know what it’s like to go without food and tell my children that I was full so that they didn’t look inside the cupboards. Every day that [my children] didn’t know what we didn’t have was a miracle,” said Trask, reflecting on the path which pushed her to run for office. “That is the reality for so many Floridians – and it shouldn’t be… I am fighting to make sure the person beside me and the person coming after me doesn’t endure the same challenges.”
Turning to what she will fight to deliver for the people of District 22, Trask unveiled the pillars of her campaign’s platform: education, public safety and infrastructure, cost of existence, and health and wellness.
“We have the means to ensure that people can do more than survive, but thrive… That they can write their own stories the way they want to here, in Florida,” continued Trask, with a forward-looking message rooted in her vision of public service. “I don’t want to represent lobbyists. I want to represent you.”
